Oklahoma's Langston University and Tulsa's Deborah Brown Community School are teaming up in a first-of-its-kind deal to help children in north Tulsa.  Under the new contract announced on Tuesday, Langston will sponsor the charter school.

In return, Deborah Brown's students will get to interact with college students and faculty.  They'll also learn about the importance of a college education.

"We're not talking about just the beginning, we're talking about a revolution.  What can happen when higher education and common education join together for the common good of who we should be working for and that's our young people," said Dr. JoAnn Haysbert, President of Langston University.

The signing is said to be a culmination of years of work and was made possible through a law co-authored by Representative Jabar Shumate of Tulsa.
