Tulsa's Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation is hoping to raise a lot of money for breast cancer this year.
The group has a fundraising goal of $825,000 in 2008. 75% of that money will go to local organizations that provide breast cancer screening and treatment programs.
"What we do is fund programs that are providing support to women who either have no insurance, no financial means, or they might not have enough insurance to really cover the diagnosis of breast cancer and the subsequent treatment," said Christy Southard, Komen Tulsa Executive Director.
The Race for the Cure is September 20th at the CityPlex Towers located at 81st and Lewis.
The News On 6 is once again a proud sponsor. You're invited to come out and walk. If you'd like, you can be on LeAnne Taylor's Team.
