A massive manhunt had law enforcement chasing ghosts in Okmulgee County on Tuesday. Police say the teenage tipster who sparked the hunt, failed a lie detector test and made the whole thing up.
Police agencies from across the state descended on Henryetta, just a few miles from where two Weleetka girls were killed earlier this month. They were looking for a burglary suspect who matched the description of a person of interest in the case.
The man behind a massive four-hour manhunt in Henryetta, Okmulgee County Sheriff Eddie Rice tells The News On 6 that based on the suspect description that the 18-year-old woman gave them and the fact that the woman's home was located just four miles from where the girls were killed, they had to check out the reported burglary.
