There is a new reason to break free from the bottled water habit. It's breaking the bank and an effort in Oklahoma to save lives by preventing diabetes during pregnancy.

Diabetics have a higher risk of miscarriage or birth defects. Doctors at the Variety Health Center in Oklahoma City say diabetes cases among young women are skyrocketing.

"I think that's mostly lifestyle they've grown up on fast foods or Nintendo," said Dawn Vaughn of Variety Health Center.

Poor nutrition and lack of exercise can cause diabetes in moms-to-be. The center offers free classes with the goal of keeping women and their babies healthy.

Doctors also try to help people who already have the disease manage it safely. Complications from diabetes is the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S.
