State prison authorities have received a report that a child was molested by her father who was serving time in the Joseph Harp Correction Facility in Lexington.
News On 6 reporter Stacey Cameron reports the accused, Eugene Bond, was already serving a life-sentence for sex crimes.
"His wife brought in their biological daughter into the visitation area," said Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn.
Despite security in the visitation area, prison guards did not catch the crime. It apparently was an another inmate who turned Bond in.
"When you see child victims it automatically kind of turns your head, but then when it's their own child they're preying on, it abominable," said Greg Mashburn.
The mother, Rebecca Bond admits bringing her daughter to the prison several other times and letting the girl sit on Bond's lap.
The Cleveland County DA's office is filing charges against the mother as well for enabling the child abuse.
Mashburn is filing charges for one act of molestation and his office is investigating into how many times the girl was assaulted.
The Department of Corrections was asked why a convicted sex offender was allowed a visitation with a child. A DOC spokesperson says inmates; even sexual predators are legally allowed to spend time with their children.
