Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

They're two of the more popular cookies, oatmeal and chocolate chip.  Six in the Morning reporter Carina Sonn and St. John Dietitian Julie Pryer are ready to Get Cookin' on a recipe that combines the two.

Ingredients:
½ cup nonfat plain yogurt
½ cup splenda
½ cup brown sugar, packed
¼ cup light smart balance
¼ cup canola oil
1 tsp vanilla
1 ¾ c unbleached, all purpose flour
½ cup rolled oats
½ tsp baking soda
½ cup semi-sweet, mini chocolate chips


Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine yogurt, smart balance, canola oil, and vanilla. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly mixed.
3. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, oats, baking soda, splenda, and brown sugar. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly mixed.
4. Pour wet ingredients into larger bowl and mix well with dry ingredients.
5. Add chocolate chips.
6. Stir together well with spoon or with a mixer until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
7. Spray baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
8. Drop cookies onto baking sheet in ½ Tbsp-full's.
9. Bake for 8-10 minutes.


Yield: 24 cookies

Nutrition information per cookie: 106 calories, 1.6 g protein, 16 g total carb, 4.5 g fat with 1.1 g saturated fat.
