The Bixby Fire Department received a major upgrade on Thursday. The BFD added a new state-of-the-art fire truck that's equipped with everything from medical equipment, a massive water tank and compressed air foam.
Bixby's Fire Chief says the new engine is rigged up with the latest safety innovations. And, the new compressed foam puts out a fire faster than ever.
"I've been in this business for 27 years and I haven't seen one just like this ever. And, we're very proud to have it in our possession," said Bixby Fire Chief Steve Abel.
The truck was custom built for Bixby. The firefighters even made trips to the assembly plant to understand how the truck works.
Abel tells The News On 6 they're expecting a second new fire truck in about three months.
