Retired Lt. Col. Seeks Senate Seat

In the Army, he helped hunt down Saddam Hussein in Iraq.  Now, retired Lieutenant Colonel Steve Russell wants a new mission in the Oklahoma Senate.

Russell says his 21 years in the military will help make him a better senator.

"I have witnessed firsthand the creation of new democracy.  I have seen how the rest of the world views Oklahoma, and I have developed a deeper appreciation for the things that make Oklahoma and Oklahomans special," said Steve Russell.

Russell is running as a Republican in Senate District 45.  That includes parts of Oklahoma and Canadian Counties.

At least four other Republicans are also running for the open seat.
