Three television network news anchors are uniting to "Stand Up 2 Cancer."  Katie Couric, Brian Williams and Charlie Gibson appeared on all three network morning programs Wednesday to launch the new cancer-busting initiative.

Cancer is the leading cause of death in America and all three anchors have been touched by cancer in their families.  Couric, Williams, and Gibson will host a fundraiser that will air simultaneously on all three networks on September 5th.

"We are really symbolic of the effort that we are trying to do," said Couric.  "We are trying to get scientists and researchers all over the country to collaborate, to put aside their competitive differences."

The networks have teamed up in the past to raise money, after the September 11th attacks and Hurricane Katrina.  The anchors say this is different, though, because cancer affects every American family.
