Meet The Week 1 "Gimme The Mike!" Contestants

American Idol has come to an end, but Gimme the Mike! is just getting started! The News On 6 is on the lookout for the top amateur talent in northeastern Oklahoma and we found twenty contestants that can really belt it out!

Gimme the Mike! will air on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. on The News On 6 from July 7 to August 18.

Before the contestants take the stage, we thought it would be interesting to see what these talented singers do in their everyday life. This week we caught up with four of the contestants that will be featured during the first week.

Gimme the Mike! contestant, James Simmons, says he's not nervous about the competition, he's just excited to perform!

"When the lights come on and the cameras are on and the audience is there, no feeling like it. Something drives me, something moves me. I kind of ham it up as my mom would say," said James Simmons, Gimme the Mike! contestant.
