A man is under arrest for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol after hitting a fire truck overnight on Saturday. The incident happened just before 4 a.m. in the 4900 block of South Yale Avenue.

Officials with the Tulsa Fire Department say a crew with Tulsa Fire Engine-23 had been responding to a motorist assist. While attempting to leave the scene by making a U-turn from northbound Yale to southbound Yale, a pickup truck passed them on the left in the northbound lanes and clipped the front of the fire truck.

The impact sent the pickup truck into a sign, but no one was injured.

Officials say the 20-year-old, who was driving the pickup truck, is at fault because the fire truck was leaving the scene with all emergency equipment on, including its lights.

The driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI. The Tulsa Police Department and Tulsa Fire Department Safety Inspector are investigating the accident.
