Former Jailer To Stand Trial

A former Sequoyah County jailer will stand trial in June after he's indicted for beating a prisoner. 

24-year old Jarrod Anthony Yates pleaded innocent to the charge of "deprivation of rights under color of law" for allegedly beating an inmate while he worked at the county jail.

That is a federal offense. 

Yates is currently free on bond.
