State Leaders Not So Prompt In Paying Taxes

The deadline to file taxes is Tuesday. But, not all state leaders are so prompt.  An investigation by the Oklahoman newspaper shows 15 lawmakers who've repeatedly failed to pay on time while others have been late just once.

In the state House they include Tulsa Democrat Jabar Shumate and McAlester Democrat Terry Harrison.  Democratic state Senator Judy Eason McIntryre of Tulsa was also on the list.

Earlier this year, Republican Lance Cargill stepped down as state House speaker after his tax problems became public.  His expected successor also dropped out of the race over embarrassing tax problems.
