The Grand River Dam Authority now admits it wants to buy more than 2,500 acres of land north of Miami. The GRDA said last year it wanted to buy land in Ottawa County. People speculated the land would be used to prevent flooding on Grand Lake.
Instead it appears the GRDA is addressing another issue, creating a wildlife preserve, something the feds require it to do.
Landowners in Ottawa County fear they'll be forced off productive agricultural land. The GRDA has said it would use eminent domain laws if necessary.
