Checotah native and reigning "CMA Top Female Vocalist" of the year, Carrie Underwood has the chance to earn that title from the Academy of Country Music.
Nominations for the Academy of Country Music Awards were announced Tuesday morning in Nashville.
Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood are up for the Top Female Vocalist of the year. Underwood was earlier named the Top Female Vocalist by the Country Music Association.
"That's what you hope for each year. You just hope people are seeing how hard everybody's working and that goes for every artist. The music business is not an easy business to be in so for everybody, you know there are so many great artists that are being recognized. It's a good thing," said Carrie Underwood.
Kenny Chesney, who will play at the new BOK Center later this year, is among those up for Top Male Vocalist of the year.
The winners will be announced at the 43rd annual Academy of Country Music Awards live on the News On 6 on Sunday, May 18.
Oklahoma native, Reba McEntire will host the awards show.
