Millions of pounds of recalled beef must now be destroyed. The U.S. Department of Agriculture put a hold on it last month.
The government's decision to now destroy the beef affects several Green Country school districts which set aside the questionable meat nearly two weeks ago.
The beef comes from a California slaughterhouse that's a nationwide supplier to school lunch programs.
Companies with Hallmark-Westland ground beef are being told first to make the meat inedible, and then dispose of it in a landfill or rendering plant.
