A Mayes County man is in the Mayes County jail after an early Tuesday morning standoff with law enforcement officers.

The Mayes County Sheriff's Office says it started when a man drove over a gas pump at a Kum and Go store in Locust Grove.  The store clerk called police who followed Barron Davis to his home.

Authorities say Davis tried to get his Rottweilers to attack the responding police officer then fired shots at the officer.  Officers say that's when Davis barricaded himself inside his rural home.

After about an hour of negotiations, Davis surrendered.

Davis faces several charges, including assault and battery on a police officer and shooting with intent to kill.
