Kenneth Johnson is charged with first degree murder in the 2005 slaying of three people, including a ten-year-old girl. The News on 6's Chris Wright reports the trial is now beginning its second week.

Three people were arrested in connection with the killing. One has already been sentenced to death. If he is found guilty, Kenneth Johnson could face the same fate.

In August of 2005, 28-year-old Mitch Thompson, 25-year-old Tara Burchett-Thompson, and her daughter, 10-year-old Kayla, were found dead inside of their Owasso home. Police believe the killings were the result of a drug-related death. Police say the victims were shot while they slept.

Kenneth Johnson, Clarence Goode Junior, and Ronald Thompson were later arrested. In exchange for a reduced sentence, Thompson is serving as a witness for the prosecution. In a separate trial back in December, Goode was sentenced to death.

Prosecutors are asking that Johnson also be given the death penalty. On the stand today was one of the detectives who worked the case. Family members of the victims are expected to testify later this week.
