The Skiatook Police Department said goodbye to a devoted officer on Wednesday.  Dozens of people attended a memorial service for Cheiko, the department's drug dog.  Like any officer, he put his life on the line to protect the Skiatook community.

"We could take him into the schools and the kids would be able to pet on him and be around him, and while he was working.  But when it was time to bite he knew it was the time to go to work.  He was aggressive at that point and once that was done, back to normal, friendly dog," said Cheiko's partner, Shane Thompson.

Cheiko died from cancer.  He'd been with the department since 2000.

The Skiatook PD is trying to raise money to get another drug dog.
