A Muskogee County Sheriff's Deputy is recovering at home from a gunshot wound. Deputy David Mackey and Warner Police Officer Adam Satterfield were responding to a domestic disturbance call at a Porum home on Saturday night when shots were fired.
Police say they found a man armed with knives taped to his hands. After removing the knives and trying to arrest 40-year-old Kevin Girty, they say he started to struggle. So, one of the officers used a Taser on Girty's back. That's when they say he turned around and fired two shots.
Deputy Mackey was hit in the hand and stomach. The other bullet ricocheted off of Officer Satterfield's gun clip.
Girty is in jail, charged with attempted murder.
