Former Mayor Pleads No Contest To Manslaughter Charge

The former Haskell mayor is pleading no contest to first-degree manslaughter.  Charley Smith is accused of causing the 2006 crash that killed Dr. Shawn Lee of Coweta.

The mayor was arrested after the accident on suspicion of drunk driving.  He will be sentenced in April and is currently free on bond.

Meanwhile, Smith is named in a civil lawsuit by Lee's widow.
