Tulsa Police arrest two teens accused of robbing two people at knifepoint overnight. Tulsa Police Department’s "Safe City" unit caught up with the suspects at the Stoneridge Apartments in the 2500 block of East 88th Street. Tulsa Police say officers spotted the suspects and made the arrests.
The first robbery happened at the City Plex Towers at 81st and Lewis at 10:30 pm Wednesday. The victim told police, she was getting into her car when two suspects armed with a knife robbed her. She was not hurt and the suspects fled.
About 15 minutes later a pizza deliveryman was robbed at the Deerfield Estates Apartments at 8812 South Delaware. Tulsa Police say the suspects matched the description of the suspects in the first incident.
Members of the Tulsa Police Department's “Safe City†unit set up at the Stoneridge Apartments. Officers recognized the suspects from descriptions given by the victims and called for additional police officers. More officers arrived and the two suspects, 18-year-old Leonard Barnett and a 16-year-old juvenile, were taken into custody.
And quick thinking Sonic employees may have prevented another armed robbery overnight. It happened just before midnight at the restaurant near 23rd and Nogales. Tulsa Police say one employee attempted to get a Sonic clerk outside by ringing a drive-up window.
A second suspect with a gun tried to hide while the pair waited for the employee to exit the building. Police say another Sonic employee noticed something was not right, saw the suspect with the gun and called police.
The suspects took off before police arrived.
