NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Even though she was obviously the best player on Oklahoma's women's basketball team last season, Courtney Paris maintains she was not one of the Sooners' leaders.
Paris clearly dominated on the court, earning national player of the year honors from The Associated Press. But the 6-foot-4 junior left a lot of the talking to a six-player senior class whose members played a role in winning two straight Big 12 Conference regular-season titles and three league tournament championships.
This season, the Sooners have no seniors, which means the three-player junior class led by the Paris and her twin sister, Ashley, will be looked at to lead the squad.
Although they have no seniors, the Sooners do have three returning starters. That's because two sophomores, point guard Jenna Plumley and forward Amanda Thompson, broke into the lineup last year. Ashley Paris also has 15 career starts during the past two seasons.
But beyond that, the Sooners are mostly unproven, as other members of the sophomore class saw only limited action.
