IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Tulsa linebacker Nelson Coleman was named Monday as Conference USA's defensive player of the week.
Coleman, a senior from Dallas, had a season-high 17 tackles as the Golden Hurricane rallied to beat Southern Methodist 29-23 on Saturday.
One of those tackles came on a fourth-and-goal play from the Tulsa 1, on which Coleman stopped SMU running back DeMyron Martin with less than two minutes left in the game. Tulsa then drove 99 yards for the winning touchdown.
It's the second time this season Coleman has received the honor. He is second on the team with 81 tackles.
