If you have toxic chemicals in your home, now is the time to dispose of them at no cost. The Metropolitan Environmental Trust is collecting the items at the Tulsa County Fairgrounds. MET workers are accepting everything from used motor oil, pool chemicals, batteries, and prescription drugs.

“Storing chemicals in your home can really cause problems and can create a poisoning hazard for your children or your pets. It can catch on fire if it's not stored properly. So, we really encourage people to not store dangerous items in their home,” said the MET’s Julie Alexander.

The MET advises you to always follow the directions if you’re using hazardous materials and don’t buy more than you need.

The household chemicals can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Items are being collected at Gate 7 of the fairgrounds.
