Legal Challenge To HB 1804 Refiled

Additional plaintiffs join a federal lawsuit challenging an Oklahoma law that would crack down on illegal immigrants. The federal lawsuit, which was dismissed on Monday by U.S. District Judge James Payne, was refiled on Thursday in federal court in Tulsa. The National Coalition of Latino Clergy has been leading the legal battle.

The plaintiffs added to the case claim they are facing eviction because of House Bill 1804. The law takes effect on November 1st.

Judge Payne tossed the first lawsuit after finding that the plaintiffs could not show how the law had caused them any harm.

A hearing on the new lawsuit has been set for Wednesday, October 31 at 2 pm.
