BOSTON (AP) _ We know Josh Beckett will start against the Colorado Rockies in Game 1 Wednesday night, but the rest of the Red Sox' World Series rotation remains a mystery.
Manager Terry Francona is deciding whether to start Curt Schilling or Tim Wakefield in Game 2 of the series Thursday night at Fenway Park. If Francona goes with Wakefield, it may be out of concern that his trademark knuckleball won't flutter as well in the thin air of Denver.
Wakefield has started two games in Denver in his career, and is 0-and-2 with a 9.31 ERA.
Schilling is 4-4 lifetime in Denver, with a 5.64 ERA.
Another decision that will face Francona when the series moves to the National League ballpark is what to do with Kevin Youkilis. Designated hitter David Ortiz would likely start at first base and that could possibly leave Youkilis -- who hit .500 in the American League championship series -- without a spot in the line-up.
