OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The state Office of Juvenile Affairs is considering using electronic monitoring technology to track the movements of juvenile offenders and staff at the L.E. Rader Center in Sand Springs.
The devices -- tracking bracelets or ankle monitors – were developed by the Community Communications Authority, a public trust that began in northeastern Oklahoma. They're capable of monitoring a person's exact location in a building in real time.
The system can track juveniles anywhere on the Rader campus, whether they are indoors or outside, and it can automatically send alerts to officials if a juvenile enters a restricted area.
The facility is embroiled in a federal lawsuit alleging rampant sexual misconduct, violence and drug use.
