The Blue Star Mothers receive a special gift to help support Oklahoma troops headed to Iraq. The City of Tulsa Utilities Division spent their service week gathering supplies for deployment packets that are given to the soldiers.
The packets were presented to the Blue Star Mothers on Tuesday. They included 2,400 bottles of water and granola bars.
The service project has brought Captain Quana Wright full circle as both a soldier and a city employee.
"Blue Star Moms supports the military in providing care packages. My unit received a lot of care packages and boxes from the Blue Star Moms. And, it just means so much to get something from home,†said Captain Quana Wright, who is now works for the city.
The 45th Infantry will deploy to Iraq on Thursday.
