MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Senator Larry Craig says the day he met his wife, he fell "deeply in love." The embattled Republican says that his love for her has lasted through their nearly 25 years of marriage.

His wife says their marriage is not a cover for homosexuality. She says that would be "almost like selling your soul for something."

Senator Craig is defending himself against claims he is gay after his arrest in an airport men's room sex sting. His lawyers are trying to clear his name in court, appealing a judge's refusal to let him to withdraw his guilty plea to disorderly conduct.

Senator Larry Craig's relationship with GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney was apparently not designed to last for better or worse. He stepped down as Senate liaison for Romney's campaign after his arrest, and says Romney not only threw him "under his campaign bus, he backed up and ran over" him again.
