Tulsa's Air National Guard has a new place to recruit its next generation. The 138th Fighter Wing moved its recruiting location from Eastland Mall to a building across from Bishop Kelley High School in midtown. While the 138th is still meeting its goal for recruits, it hopes to reach more people with the new location.
"We average about 100 contacts a month, which is telephone referrals and walk-ins and we're hoping that this location is gonna increase that activity. We end up averaging about 12 enlistments per month out of that 100 contacts. So we're hoping that we'll get more walk-ins off the street and be more accessible to the public in this location,†said Colonel William Hadaway.
The commander of the 138th says it's worth 30 minutes to see what the Air Guard has to offer.
He says a junior or senior in high school can be eligible for about $75,000 in incentives.
