OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Norman native James Garner will be the grand marshal of the Oklahoma Centennial Parade.

The Oklahoma Centennial Commission says the award-winning actor will lead the parade planned for October 14 in Oklahoma City.

Best known for his roles in television's "Maverick" and "Rockford Files," Garner was born on April 7, 1928 in Norman.

Garner has received one Academy Award nomination, 15 Emmy nominations with two wins, 13 Golden Globe nominations with four wins, two People's Choice Awards and three Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

In 2005, Garner received the Life Achievement Award presented by the Screen Actors Guild.
