Broken Arrow Police detectives are working every lead to find a child rapist. It is a news story that has touched many people across eastern Oklahoma. Many News On 6 and www.kotv.com viewers have asked how they can help the young victim and Wednesday, the Tulsa and Broken Arrow communities have a chance to raise money for the girl and her family.
Broken Arrow Police say they have received at least 75 tips and have followed up on about two dozen of those tips so far. Police tell the News On 6, so far, none of those tips has turned up any information about the suspect who kidnapped a 5-year-old Broken Arrow girl from outside her home last week.
Meanwhile, people across eastern Oklahoma are reaching out to the girl and her family. DJs from radio station 106.9 K-HITS are collecting money for the 5-year-old Broken Arrow girl.
The Tulsa radio station is accepting donations on the family's behalf, at LaFortune Park at 61st and Yale until 6 p.m on Wednesday.
Donors who have stopped by say they want the young victim and her family to know they're thinking of them.
"I just want to do anything to try to help the family feel like people are behind them and wanting to help them," says Marlo McVay.
All the money collected on Wednesday will be donated to the "BA Angel" account, set up for the 5-year-old at City National Bank in Broken Arrow.
