Supporters of the river tax say they are reaching out to the North Tulsa community. Members of the Our River Yes initiative will open an office in North Tulsa on Wednesday. The News On 6’s Chris Wright reports Our River Yes hopes the new office will convince everyone that the tax will benefit the entire city.

The Our River Yes campaign office is located near the corner of Apache and Cincinatti, and is already filled with posters, wrist bracelets and brochures, all aimed at encouraging Tulsans to approve the tax.

Our River Yes may have an uphill battle though. On Monday night, at a No River Tax forum, North Tulsa City Council members Roscoe Turner and John Eagleton urged members of the community to vote no. But one State Representative counters that a developed river, while it would mean more tax money, would bring more entertainment options for everyone.

"Certainly if it's developed and things are happening there the whole city, as they use the airport or the zoo, have the opportunity to use the river and really enjoy its benefits," State Representative Jabar Shumate said.

The North Tulsa campaign office will be officially opened during a ceremony at noon on Wednesday
