Community Shaken By Rape

A child rapist remains on the loose. Broken Arrow Police say he snatched his victim from her front yard before raping her. The 5-year-old was dumped eight miles away at the end of a dead end road. News On 6 reporter Joshua Brakhage reports it was the end of her horrible ordeal, but the beginning of the search for a child predator.

Quick-thinking neighbors tried to calm a very frightened little girl left naked, bloody, and scared.

Now, the entire Broken Arrow community can't help but be a little shaken up with a child rapist still on the run.

"I don't know what kind of animal people is, to do like that to a girl like that," says Jimmy Vang, who found the girl.

When Jimmy Vang heard crying in his yard, he thought it was one of his own three daughters.

When all three were accounted for, he found the little girl bleeding profusely and without her clothes on his doorstep. He ran to the neighbor's for help.

"I sat down and got her in my lap and tried to keep her from crying," says neighbor Billy Graham.

"They're your cherished little gifts and if they've been violated, it's just horrible," states Donna Fisher.

Donna Fisher has a 5-year-old daughter of her own, and lives just a few doors down from where the girl was found. She says parents walk a fine line keeping kids safe and making kids scared.

"She's just now getting past getting scared of monsters in the closet. You try to make her brave and give her some things they can do to build her confidence. It was a big deal just to get her brave enough to go to Kindergarten, and now you have to say 'you can't play outside because there are monsters in the area,' " says Donna Fisher.

Neighbors say they're on the lookout for that monster.

"If I see somebody driving around here two or three times, especially if they stop, I always find out what they're wanting," says neighbor James Moore.

"I want to get my hands on the person who did this. It would just really make my day to find him day night or dark. If I knew it was him he'd be in trouble," states Billy Graham.
