OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An Oklahoma City man who says he bought a Powerball ticket because no one had wished him a happy birthday has cashed the ticket that won $800,000. Rudolfo Cruz says he was feeling sorry for himself last Wednesday when no one called or visited him on his birthday so he bought the ticket as a present to himself.
Cruz says when he got home his family was there to surprise him and a few hours later the first five numbers on the ticket matched those in the Powerball drawing.
After taxes Cruz received a check of $568,000 and says he'll share the money with his family and he may buy a boat.
