The University of Tulsa football team plays its first game at home Saturday night. There’s renewed excitement as it’s TU’s first game in the newly renamed and renovated Chapman Stadium. News on 6 reporter Joshua Brakhage reports that the players are excited about stepping on Skelly field at the newly-renamed H.A. Chapman Stadium.

The Chapman Trust gave several million dollars to make-over the stadium. But one project is already complete. The three-story Case Athletic Complex towers over the field where the old north end zone bleachers once stood.

Crews are starting to stock the new suites on the top floor, but everything's fully stocked down in the locker room, including cookies baked by the coaches' wives.

In front of the stadium, forget the baked goods. How about the beer? Tailgaters lined up nine hours before the game. A family of BYU fans snuck into the stadium early to take some pictures on the goal line. Tulsa fans hope it's the only time a Cougar makes it into the end zone.

University of Tulsa alum John Washburn hopes the home field advantage makes the difference after last season’s loss to the Cougars.

"I'm going to say probably 35 to 17, 35 to 20. I think we can whip 'em," John Washburn predicted of the final score.

T.U. freshman Brittany Annan weighed in too.

"40 to 7. I don't know. Hopefully we win," Brittany Annan said.

Last year, Brigham Young thrashed Tulsa on the Cougars' home field. In fact, the Hurricane has never beaten BYU.
