A shooting suspect could now a face murder charge. Tulsa police are looking for Jermaine Jeffery. He’s accused of shooting at his girlfriend and could face a murder charge because of a car wreck that killed a young woman. The News On 6’s Emory Bryan reports police say Jeffery caused an accident on Friday that killed Keishia Williamson, who was just driving down the road.

She was young and accomplished but her life ended because of a chance encounter last Friday. Nineteen year old Keishia Williamson was killed in a car wreck that police say was caused by a suspect fleeing the scene of a shooting. The suspect, Jermaine Jeffery, crashed his truck and escaped into the woods, and now what started as a rushed manhunt has turned into detective work.

"We were not in pursuit at all, lights were not activated, this individual was just driving reckless and he had already shot at someone that day and he was just fleeing the scene and had no regard for anyone on the street that day," Tulsa Police Officer Leland Ashley said.

Police say 28-year-old suspect, Jermaine Jeffery, caused a two car accident while he was fleeing the scene of the alleged shooting. One car, with Williamson inside, was pushed into a pole. The other car was grazed, and the woman driving it was hurt.

"All of a sudden we see him coming and I grabbed the steering wheel to veer out of the way so she wouldn't hit him, but still, the bumper coming flying up and hit us right in the windshield - pow!" eyewitness Richard Thorns said.

The woman was taken to a hospital, but treated and released. Williamson survived the crash, but died Saturday.

Williamson was a Booker T. Washington graduate. Her family describes her as a minister and part-time nail technician. The man accused of causing the accident that killed her is still at large and police believe someone must be helping him hide, or at least know where they can find him.

"We truly need to get him in custody because he is a continuing threat," Ashley said.

Jeffrey has a prior record of convictions for forgery and drug possession. He is now facing more serious charges that include murder.
