OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A Wyoming author visiting Oklahoma City to promote his book about a Hall of Fame jockey hopes the rider's story someday will be made into a movie.
Author Richard Maturi wrote a biography of Earl Sande that was published more than two years ago. Sande rode Gallant Fox in 1930 as that horse became the second winner of thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown, winning the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes.
Sande also rode famed horses including Man o' War, Sir Barton and Zev. He won the Kentucky Derby three times, the Preakness once and the Belmont five times.
Maturi says Sande's story is just as good as that of that of the thoroughbred Seabiscuit, the subject of a popular 2003 movie.
Maturi says he's lined up an agent to promote a screenplay based on his book to film producers.
The author spent Saturday and yesterday at Remington Park signing copies of the book.
