Man Charged With Murder In Death Of 2-Year-Old

COWETA, Okla. (AP) -- A Coweta man who allegedly kicked his girlfriend's 2-year-old son to death faces a first-degree murder charge. Wagoner County prosecutors have accused 21-year-old Michael Hernandez of repeatedly kicking or stomping Kelynn Eric Byrd on August 12.

Hernandez told investigators that the death occurred after he and his girlfriend, Jamie Gould, had argued in their bedroom that afternoon. According to an affidavit, Gould left the home without her son.

Records show that Hernandez told investigators that while "very angry" with Gould about their relationship, he began kicking Kelynn in the back and that he said he believed that he kicked the child fewer than 10 times.
