Tulsa Union's multipurpose activity center was dedicated to female cancer education Monday. Dr. Paula McQueen of Southcrest Medical Center was there to talk to guests about cancer prevention, warning signs and risk factors. She says many can avoid cancer by eating healthy, exercising, and regular examinations with a physician. And while, ovarian, uterine and breast cancers are highly diagnosed, they aren't as common a killer among women.
"What a lot of people don't realize is that there is more women that die of lung cancer than breast cancer, so the thing that we can do to prevent lung cancer is not to smoke,†said Dr. McQueen.
Dr. McQueen also discussed cancer treatment options and when to begin treatment if a cancer is detected.
You can help in the fight against breast cancer by lacing up your running shoes and joining the race. The Susan G.
