Scorching Oklahoma temperatures did not stop one back to school festival in Tulsa. The John 3:16 Mission held its back to school festival Saturday. They gave area kids new and gently used school clothes. It’s an annual tradition for the Tulsa charity, which has been going on for 20 years.
Organizers say the festival helps over 1,000 families get ready for school.
"It can represent hundreds of dollars of help for families that are already struggling to make ends meat,†Steve Whitaker with John 3:16 said. “I think it means a lot."
The Blue Cross was at Saturday’s event to give kids their immunizations and dental packets. Plus, while the children waited on their new outfits they enjoyed some snacks and fun on a Jupiter Jump.
The back to school event has been going on for 20 years, only this year was the first time families could register and get their clothes in the same day.
