PRINCETON, Ind. (AP) -- Three people are dead following an accident at mine in southern Indiana that's owned by a Tulsa company.
Police say the three plunged 500 feet to their deaths Friday morning while riding in a basket used to carry people up and down an air shaft.
Authorities say it doesn't appear there was a cave-in or an explosion and no one else appears trapped.
The mine is owned by Tulsa-based Alliance Resource Partners and is near Princeton, Indiana, about 30 miles north of Evansville.
Indiana Department of Labor spokesman Sean Keefer says the department and the Indiana Bureau of Mines are at the mine investigating.
