Hot temperatures in Tulsa are keeping EMSA crews busy Wednesday. EMSA officials say paramedics at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club responded to 9 medical calls, two of which were patients suffering from symptoms of heat related illness. One of those patients was transported to a Tulsa hospital for further care, the other refused to be transported.
Away from the golf course, EMSA officials say paramedics provided treatment to at least two additional patients suffering from heat-related symptoms. The patients, a 17-year-old boy and a 24-year-old man, were transported to Tulsa hospitals.
An excessive heat warning is in effect through the weekend for 10 counties in northeastern Oklahoma.
Elsewhere in Oklahoma, a handful of towns in northwestern Oklahoma and the Panhandle have already surpassed 100 degrees this week.
