JET, Okla. (AP) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is planning to kick off a weeklong cleanup effort Monday at a federal wildlife refuge where a Boy Scout found World War II vials containing chemicals.

The Boy Scout was digging for crystals at the Great Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge near Jet when he uncovered the vials.

The corps and its contractor will determine whether there are more vials, incendiary devices or other military items near the site.

A geophysical survey of the greater 330-acre crystal digging area is scheduled to begin later this month. The area where the crystals were found will remain closed for safety reasons.
