NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma opened at No. 8 in the preseason coaches' poll released Friday by USA Today.

The defending Big 12 champs were one of four conference teams in the top 25 including Texas (4), Nebraska (19) and Texas A&M (25).

Missouri, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Kansas State also received votes.

The top 10 teams in the poll are Southern Cal, LSU, Florida, Texas, Michigan, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech and Ohio State.

The Sooners open the 2007 season against North Texas on Sept. 1.
