OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Six people have been charged in connection with an alleged illegal horse racing operation south of Thackerville near the Oklahoma-Texas border.

Each was charged with conspiracy against the state, three counts of felony gambling, seven counts of charging an admission fee to an unlicensed horse race and racketeering.

They're accused of running an unlicensed racetrack called Red River Playgrounds near Interstate 35. Spectators allegedly bet on unlicensed races and were charged a $20 admission fee.

Defendants are accused of holding seven race days between January and July and allowing spectators to bet on the outcome of races and on card and dice games at the dirt track.

On Sunday, 22 others were arrested and jailed after a raid at the track. They've not been charged.
