Crews are ready to take the next step in construction at the BOK Center in downtown Tulsa. The key design feature of the arena, a glass wall that wraps around the south end, will soon start going up. The 600 foot glass wall will be the arena’s main entrance. The four-by-eight glass panels that will makeup the wall should begin arriving in September, and crews are expected to have them all up by March.
Engineers have conducted tests to make sure the wall will hold up to Oklahoma’s unpredictable weather. Testing showed the design element will withstand 100 mile per hour winds, 10 miles higher than required.
The BOK Center should be open for business in September 2008.
