OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A former Kay County sheriff's deputy has been indicted on charges that he used the Internet to try to arrange sex with someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl, the U.S. attorney's office said Thursday.
Michael Wade Kent, 51, of Ponca City, was actually communicating over the Internet with a person working in an undercover capacity, the office said.
The case was brought as part of a nationwide initiative launched by the U.S. attorney general's office to protect children from online exploitation and abuse, said U.S. Attorney John Richter.
