The manhunt for Josh Muller has been compared to the search for Scott Eizember four years ago. Police spent five weeks looking for Eizember after he killed an elderly couple from Depew. In each case, two people were found dead, authorities went on an intense manhunt, and the men were considered to have good survival skills. The News On 6's Carina Sonn reports fortunately, officials say, both Eizember and Muller have another thing in common, they were eventually captured.
Prosecutors say Eizember confessed to killing AJ and Patsy Cantrell. He also shot his ex-girlfriend's son and beat the boy's grandmother. Authorities say Eizember killed the couple to use their home as a lookout to wait for his ex-girlfriend.
After 37 days on the run, and one escape, he was captured in Texas after kidnapping a couple from Arkansas. The Cantrell's daughter, Debra Wyatt, says she's thankful the victims' families didn't have to go through the same excruciating wait.
"I'll just be glad the person's out of the population and he's not out there anymore with a chance to hurt anybody else,†Wyatt said.
Right now, Eizember's in McAlester on death row.
Wyatt believes the search techniques authorities use now are better than when they were trying to find Eizember. She says that possibly helped speed up Muller's capture.
